The two founding directors and shareholders were Max Divers and Don Leonard, and the company's operations were centered around customs clearance, warehousing, and freight forwarding.

In 1996 Max Divers purchased Leonard's interests with the company name changing in 1999 to Divers Group to reflect the change of ownership.

Ten years ago, Max surveyed the particular needs of IT suppliers, and decided to offer specialised services to these customers. IT suppliers in New Zealand were keen to outsource the warehousing and distribution of the rapidly increasing volumes of IT equipment, especially PCs and associated items. Since then, Divers Group has provided services for a number of high profile multi-national companies.
